Socialized, Progressive Medicine: What Goes Around Comes Around

Link

As some of the regular readers of this blog know, Sillie Lizzie was born in Cuba. Well let me tell you a little story. In 1959-60, Fidel Castro imposed rent controls on the Cuban economy and created a housing crisis. Shortly thereafter, justified by the "crisis", all private property was nationalized. ("Never let a good crisis go to waste", thus saith Rahm Emmanuel, Obama's Chief of Staff). My father, an architect with a thriving private practice in Havana, was forced to close it and was conscripted into government service building public housing. We lost everything, even the weddings rings on my parent's fingers were confiscated at the airport when we flew out. Well, as they say, history repeats itself, and those who fail to learn its lessons are doomed to repeat it. Here we are, with health care "reform" being battled in Congress, and the parallels are instructive.

Our nation is facing an INSURANCE crisis (masquerading as a "health care crisis") that governments created back in the 1980's. Goaded on by the feds, the states "solved" that "crisis" with the creation of HMO's, PPO's, assigned risk pools, all "fixed" by bureaucrats regulating coverage, benefits, etc. and telling the insurance companies what to do (reminiscent of the mortgage lending crisis created by Congress's Community Reinvestment Act and the use of Fannie/Ginnie Mae to loan money to every one with a "need". You know how that ended up). All the while, those same bureaucrats were both ignoring the REAL causes of the explosion in medical costs and impeding all efforts to address them through tort and malpractice reform, as well as other initiatives which would put people's health care decisions into their own hands and responsibility. Like sharks circling a bleeding fish, the lawyers just salivated and licked their chops all the way to the bank. All that was accomplished THEN was to exacerbate and postpone the problems into the even bigger "crisis" we have today. And now they're using the "crisis" to transfer totalitarian control from state to federal government. The truth is, government is NEVER the solution to ANYTHING, it is only a means of protecting the rights of individuals by encroachment from others, or as Jefferson put it, "governments are instituted among men to SECURE these rights"... not to CREATE THEM or REDISTRIBUTE THEM according to the whims of a few "enlightened" ones.

Why did all this happen? It happens because of people with a) unquenchable lust for power and money, and b) because of the fraudulent and bankrupt worldview of those who call themselves "progressives". People need to know that this mess didn't START with Obama and it won't end with him.

Progressivism wraps itself in compassion and concern for the poor and downtrodden, all the while promoting a despotic view of "social justice" rooted in class warfare and malicious envy -- or as Robin Hood put it, ROBBING THE RICH TO GIVE TO THE POOR. They do "good" by FORCE, and that FORCE is the power of the State. That's not "justice", its theft, or as I think of it, just plain communism. There is no good in It, its EVIL dressed in noble drag.

Not everyone sees through it, however, and many are just dupes. Those "progressive" fellow travelers and useful idiots who helped the communist deceivers bring us to the brink of national disaster need to read the documented historical facts regarding who they have been following. Read it and REPENT or reap the eternal contempt of your countrymen.

As for those "DOCTORS" who call themselves "progressive", do not be surprised when the same thing happens to you as happened to my father. Should "socialized" medicine (or "universal health care", or "the public option", or "co-ops" or whatever the latest deceptive label that communists tag to their power grab) become a reality here in the United States, do not be surprised if you lose your practice and you end up working in a public clinic for a pittance of what you earned before. Your kids will wind up on the receiving end of the loss of everything you worked for.... just like I did.. What goes around, comes around. Don't expect sympathy from me. At least I had someplace to RUN to... YOU DON'T, and now, neither do I.
